NATIONAL ASIAN BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS
CHOOSE SILICON VALLEY TO LAUNCH MULTI-CITY TOUR

Silicon Valley Asian American business owners receive national attention through "Partnering for Success" Tour

(San Jose, Calif.) - The National Council of Asian American Business Associations (NCAABA) and the United States Asian Business Council (USABC) announced today their plans to launch a 2008 multi-city tour, "Partnering for Success", which aims to provide Asian Pacific American (APA) small business owners a forum to discuss 21st century issues impacting the community. Asian American small business issues will be addressed with panel speakers offering solutions and new trends in the economy and within Corporate America and government agencies.

The duo's first stop: Silicon Valley, California.

"With 49% of Asian Americans living in the West Coast, we knew we'd choose to launch our first series of workshops in a California city," says Jamie Borromeo, Executive Director of NCAABA. "Silicon Valley is a perfect spot because the Bay Area has the highest concentration of Asian business owners in the state of California and the economic growth in this region is astounding. Not to mention the talent Asian business owners have here is remarkable."

"Partnering for Success" has been in the works since Managing Director of USABC, Jimmy Lee, and Borromeo met in Washington DC in 2006 at a White House Conference when Lee was a Commissioner to President George W. Bush and Borromeo was an intern to Congressman Mike Honda. The two immediately saw parallel in their missions and decided to collaborate efforts after the work in their respective fields were completed.

"I am fired up about this partnership," Lee enthusiastically expresses. "Asians in business is a national issue that must be addressed. I've never seen anything like it, and I'm excited to be a part of it."

The team decided to collaborate with host organization, Asian Business Association Silicon Valley (ABA-SV), founded by President Jimmy Kang of Sunnyvale. According to the two national orgs, they want to help ABA-SV build momentum by giving it national presence in the various cities as they tour around the country.

"I am so glad to see Silicon Valley Asian business owners finally on the map. We offer so many services and business opportunities nationally and internationally, and by collaborating with these two respected national orgs, I think our business owners will receive some national attention, and maybe even some contracts."

"By inviting leaders and partners in the region, we want them to see that Asians across America endorse the local Asian voice," Borromeo commented. "Not only do we offer national presence, but we give back to our regional partner by donating all conference ticket fee proceeds back to our host organizations. It's all about collaboration and giving back to our community."

Borromeo says the agenda for the tour includes exploring very important and timely topics to APA business owners through panel discussions and workshops on: Procurement, Business Gateways to Asia, Access to Capital, Going Green with Your Business, and 21st Century Technology - all issues that Silicon Valley is known to pioneer.

"My favorite analogy about the minority small business owner and Corporate contracts is this: It's like we’re invited to the party but never asked to dance," Borromeo commented. "Well then," She continued, "Let's make sure we’re dancing with each other so Corporate America notices our groove."
